Investigators are examining why a truck’s brakes failed and whether excessive speed played a factor in a crash involving a cement truck and a school bus on Clark Mill Road in Barberton, OH, on Friday, April 27. According to Fox8.com, the driver of the cement truck and the school bus driver both played heroic roles in avoiding a deadlier accident. The cement truck was approaching the Clark Mill intersection with Norton Avenue when the driver noticed his brakes weren’t working. To avoid smashing into the side of the school bus, which carried 37 students, the cement truck driver turned hard to the right to roll his vehicle. The school bus driver, who noticed the cement truck wasn’t slowing, sped up to try and avoid a collision. The truck ended up clipping the rear of the bus, injuring two students. The cement truck driver suffered a broken collarbone in the accident.
