Authorities believe the driver of a semi-tractor trailer was traveling too fast when it overturned on a highway ramp in Iowa on Monday, Feb. 27. According to THonline.com, the tractor trailer was hauling a load of timber when it overturned on the ramp connecting northbound U.S. 61 and southbound U.S. 151 south of Dubuque.
TRUCK ACCIDENT FAST FACT: According to TruckInjuries.com, a recent survey shows that a majority of fatal crashes involving tractor-trailer trucks include a truck pulling one trailer. The survey shows that trucks in 64% of fatal accidents were pulling one trailer. The survey also found that 32% of trucks involved in fatal truck accidents were single-unit trucks, and fewer than 4% were multi-trailer trucks.
