A tractor trailer slammed into three passenger vehicles in gridlock on Interstate 5 in Seattle on Thursday, April 5, leaving highways in and around the city tied up for hours. According to The Seattle Times, the driver of the tractor trailer failed to brake in time to avoid backed up traffic on I-5 and collided with one vehicle before rolling over and striking two others. The first car then spun and struck a fourth vehicle. One driver was treated for minor injuries at a nearby medical facility, and others were treated at the scene. The report states that Washington State Police will likely cite the driver of the truck for driving too fast for conditions.
