NewsAndSentinel.com reports a semi-truck accident that occurred around 5:15pm on Thursday, August 25 in the Marietta area of Ohio. The driver of a semi-truck traveling south on Blue Knob Road failed to yield as he attempted to turn left onto Ohio 7. According to troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the semi-truck struck a 1989 Pontiac going north on Blue Knob Road. The driver of the Pontiac was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital after suffering back pains. The driver of the semi-truck received a citation for failing to yield.
NJ.com reports an accident involving a tour bus and two semi-trucks just before 12:00pm on Wednesday, August 24 in South Brunswick, New Jersey. A southbound DC Trails tour bus struck two trucks after approaching slowed traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike between exits 8A and 9. Fourteen occupants of the bus were injured, suffering broken bones, cuts and other ailments. Three others were in critical condition. The bus was headed for Washington D.C. with 55 passengers on board. After the accident, the tour bus was left with no windshield, as it rested between a turnpike guardrail and a jackknifed truck. The injured were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Saint Peter’s University Medical Center and CentraState Hospital for treatment.
The Morning Call reports a tractor-trailer accident that occurred on Wednesday, August 24 around 9:20pm in Schuylkill County, West Penn Township, Pennsylvania. A southbound tractor-trailer traveling on Route 309 lost control, crossed the centerline and struck a northbound pickup truck. The tractor-trailer then jackknifed near Route 895 and Overlook Drive. Another driver traveling north struck the semi truck’s trailer and was taken to a local hospital via helicopter. The 45 year-old male driver of the pickup was declared dead at the scene of the accident.
Clarksville Online reports a deadly tractor trailer accident that occurred on Tuesday, August 23 around 7:01pm in Clarksville, Tennessee. A tractor trailer driver ran a red light at the intersection of Trenton Road and 101st Airborne Division Parkway, striking a 2002 Lexus. The accident moved the Lexus into the path of a Nissan Altima. The 63 year-old male driver of the Lexus was killed at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Altima was taken to Gateway with injuries. The driver of the 1988 GMC tractor trailer was charged with 2 counts of reckless endangerment and vehicular homicide.
