The Toledo Blade reports a fatal tractor-trailer accident that occurred on Thursday, September 1 around 8:25am in South Rockwood, Michigan. According to Monroe County sheriff’s deputies, a motorcyclist was killed on the entrance ramp of Interstate 75 North when a tractor-trailer attempted to pull over onto the shoulder of the interstate. As the semi truck moved across the entrance ramp, it hit the motorcycle. Though the 54 year-old male driver of the bike was wearing a helmet, he later died at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center.
WBOY.com reports a tractor trailer accident that occurred on Thursday, September 1 shortly after 9:00am in Taylor County, West Virginia. According to authorities, a tractor trailer lost control on Route 50 East, off of Route 250, as the driver attempted to negotiate a curve in the road. When the truck fish-tailed, it struck an east-bound vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was removed via the jaws of life and transported to two area hospitals with injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer received a citation for traveling left of center.
PNWLocalNews.com reports a three-vehicle accident including a box truck on Thursday, September 1 around 2:00am near Tukwila, Washington. A box truck driver lost control of his vehicle on Interstate 5 South close to South 178th Street and rolled over. A 2008 Nissan Frontier pickup truck then struck the box truck and went down an embankment toward Interstate 5 North. A third vehicle could not avoid the box truck and sideswiped it. The 47 year-old male driver of the pickup truck was injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center of Seattle.
The Star Tribune reports a semi trailer accident that occurred on Thursday, September 1 around 6:20am in Lino Lakes, Minnesota. According to representatives from the Minnesota State Patrol, a 20 year-old female was killed after a semi trailer rear-ended the vehicle in which she was traveling with her mother. Upon being struck from behind, their car hit another vehicle, entered the northbound portion of the interstate and was hit by another semi trailer. The accident took place on Interstate 35 East in a construction area close to County Road 14. The woman’s 46 year-old mother was injured and transported to Regions Hospital in stable condition.
