The Newark Advocate reports a semi truck accident on Friday, December 16 at 10:45pm in Kirkersville, Ohio. According to the Ohio State Patrol, an earlier crash involving three tractor-trailers had slowed traffic on Interstate 70. A semi-truck then struck a Ford Escape in the rear, causing a chain reaction involving five other slowed vehicles. Some of the cars were forced off the road and into a ditch, requiring two individuals to be extricated by emergency responders. One individual was taken to Mount Carmel East with injuries, while another was transported to Licking Memorial Hospital.
PekinTimes.com reports a semi truck accident that injured several people on Friday, December 16 around 5:00pm in Creve Coeur, Illinois. The Illinois State Police said a semi truck passed another truck on Interstate 474 West when the vehicle lost control, fell from a bridge and hit a Saturn vehicle and a Chrysler minivan on Route 29 North. Five individuals were taken to OSF Saint Francis Hospital with injuries. The truck leaked diesel fuel and caught fire, requiring numerous fire trucks and emergency vehicles to assist at the scene. Authorities closed Route 29 for over 4 hours.
WTAE.com reports a tractor-trailer accident that injured a child on Friday morning, December 16 in Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania. According to a witness, a mother and her son waited at the corner of Butler and 40th street to cross safely when a tractor-trailer turned right and struck the boy’s stroller on the curb. The boy’s leg was trapped underneath one of the truck’s wheels before he was freed from the accident. He was transported to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh where doctors performed surgery on his leg and checked for other injuries. The trucking company involved in the incident has had 3 fatal accidents in the past 2 years.
TBO.com reports a hit-and-run accident involving a tractor-trailer on Thursday, December 15 around 4:15am in Lake Wales, Florida. Representatives of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said two 33 year-old men in a 2002 Kia Sportage were involved in a crash on State Road 60 with a semi-tractor trailer dump truck. The driver of the truck fled the scene of the accident after one man in the Kia was killed. The other was seriously injured and taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center. The missing tractor-trailer suffered side and rear damage. Authories are still looking for the truck and its driver.
