Hernando Today reports that a 75-year-old woman suffered several broken bones as the result of a truck accident on Sunshine Grove Road near State Road 50 in Brooksville, Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, her vehicle was struck by a semitrailer and she was taken by helicopter to a St. Petersburg hospital.
ABC-15 reports that a multi-vehicle crash occurred on I-10 near 32nd Street in Phoenix, Arizona when, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a semi truck struck the side of a car causing it to spin out of control and strike a motor home. Both the car and the motor home rolled over onto their sides in the crash and one person was transported to a local hospital. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the driver of the semi truck will be cited for the accident.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that four people were injured when a semi traveling south on I-15 near Salt Lake City, Utah crossed the median and plowed into oncoming traffic. The big rig crashed into a passenger vehicle with four people inside. The Utah Highway Patrol reports that all four people inside the passenger vehicle were injured in the crash, one seriously. The UHP states that the driver of the semi was completing a required 300 hours of driving with a trainer, but the trainer was sleeping at the time of the crash. The UHP reports that the driver was cited for failure to maintain the vehicle within its lane.
Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that two good Samaritans were killed when they were struck by a tractor-trailer on I-81 near Richmond, Virginia while helping a driver who had crashed. The father and son were assisting injured victims of the earlier crash when the tractor-trailer jackknifed and struck their vehicle. Virginia State Police are investigating the incident and say that charges are pending.
