The Demoines Register reports a dump truck accident that injured one on Thursday afternoon, May 26 in Demoines, Iowa. An 18-year-old female was driving a Chevrolet Lumina to work when her vehicle was broadsided by a dump truck. Removed from her car via the Jaws of Life, she was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center with serious injuries, including a fractured skull. The accident occurred close to the intersection of NE 46th St. and NE 78th Avenue near Ankeny. According to a member of the Polk County sheriff’s office, the 46-year-old male driver of the dump truck was charged with failure to yield right-of-way.
The Gettysburg Times reports a crash involving three vehicles on Monday afternoon, May 30 in Cumberland Township, Pennsylvania in which a 74-year-old man was killed. Police said the man was driving a Hyundai G 350L and waiting to turn left into his home at the Lincoln Estates when he was struck from behind by an eight-wheel Peterbilt dump truck. The initial accident pushed the Hyundai into eastbound Route 30, where it came into contact with a 2008 Ford F-250 pickup truck. The 45-year-old driver of the pickup and a 66-year-old passenger were injured and treated at Gettysburg Hospital. The truck came to a rest after striking the bricks at the entrance of the Lincoln Estates. The Hyundai also came to a stop at the entrance. The driver of the Hyundai was declared dead at the scene of the accident.
KPLCTV.com reports an accident involving an 18-wheeler on Thursday, May 26 in Moss Bluff, Louisiana shortly around 9:45am. According to Louisiana State Police, the driver of a northbound 18-wheeler tried to make a u-turn onto southbound Highway 171 at Phils Lane when a car proceeding south struck the truck. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the 18-wheeler was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
ABC15 reports a 4-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks on Wednesday, May 25 in Wickenburg, Arizona around 5:30pm. A 34-year-old woman died as a result of the crash, which occurred on State Route 74, milepost 2.1, close to US 60. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a semi-truck rear-ended a pickup truck, pushing the pickup into a passenger car. The passenger car was forced into oncoming traffic and was struck by a second semi-truck, killing one.
