The Daily Chronicle reports a head-on collision involving a semi-truck trailer on Thursday, May 5 at 3:50pm in Genoa, Illinois. According to the DeKalb County Sherriff’s Office, the incident occurred at Route 72 and North Route 23. A semi-truck trailer driver traveling westbound swerved in an effort to avoid rear-ending a vehicle, but entered the eastbound portion of the road, striking a vehicle head-on. The 41-year old female driver of the vehicle and 4 minors were transported to the hospital for injuries. The semi-truck driver was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and improper lane usage.
10news.com reports a multi-vehicle accident involving a big rig on Tuesday, May 3 at 8:01am in San Diego, California. California Highway Patrol said a semi truck lost its rear axle on Interstate 15 south near Carroll Canyon Road. 3 people were hurt and taken to a hospital on gurneys, including one driver of a blue pickup truck. After the accident, the semi truck came to a stop with no rear wheels.
KCTV5.com reports an accident involving a school bus and a dump truck on Wednesday morning, May 4 in Greenwood, Missouri. The accident occurred at Highway 150 and 17th Avenue South when a dump truck rear-ended a school bus and then fell into a ditch. Firemen reported that 6 students and the driver of the bus were transported to the hospital for injuries. The students were headed on a field trip to the Jazz Museum in Kansas City, Missouri, but the trip was cancelled after the accident.
The NY Daily News reports a hit-and-run incident involving a box truck on Thursday, May 5 in Brooklyn, New York. According to local police, a 22 year-old man on his bicycle was struck by a Budget box truck near Parkway and 59th street around 6:30pm. The 25 year-old driver of the box truck fled the scene of the accident but was found by police and awaits charges. The bicycle rider, a pizza delivery man for Amnon Kosher Pizza, passed away as a result of the accident.
