I get personally offended when, for example, an insurance company offers a pittance when one of their insured’s vehicles crosses a centerline and kills somebody’s mother. The Mansfield News Journal reports a semi-truck accident that occurred on Friday morning, June 3 in Mansfield, Ohio. A semi-truck driver tried to make a left turn back onto US 30, causing a Monte Carlo on Ohio 39 North to become wedged below the semi-truck. The driver of the Monte Carlo was taken to MedCentral/ Mansfield Hospital. The MRC Transportation semi-truck driver received a citation for making an illegal U-turn.
TheRepublic.com reports a semi-truck accident that occurred on Monday, June 6 in Sterward, Illinois. A 35 year-old man occupying the shoulder of Interstate 39 was struck by a semi-truck that entered the shoulder, struck the man’s motor home and dragged him approximately 80 feet in distance. He was under his motor home to assess a mechanical issue when the accident took place. He was killed and his passenger was transported to Rochelle Hospital.
The Miami Herald reports a fatality involving a dump truck and a taxi cab on Monday, June 6 in Orlando, Florida at 1:55am. A dump truck struck a taxi cab on State Road 528 near Orlando International Airport, killing the taxi passenger. The taxi driver was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Florida Highway Patrol stated that charges are pending.
StateGazette.com reports a fatality on Tuesday, May 31 after a tractor-trailer accident that occurred on Saturday, May 28. Shortly before 4am in Dyer County, Tennessee, a tractor-trailer transporting sheets of metal rear-ended a ’97 Chevrolet Blazer on Highway 412 near Slaughter Pen Road. The Blazer struck a tree after going down an embankment. The 67 year-old female driver of the Blazer was airlifted to the Med in Memphis, where she died on Tuesday. A passenger in the Blazer also received injuries as a result of the accident. The 50 year-old male driver of the tractor-trailer was cited for following too closely.
