The man was crossing at an intersection when the light changed and the big rig driver hit the gas. He later said he hadn’t seen the victim. In this case, a garbage truck owned by the city of Buckhannon, West Virginia, was backing up at 11:15am during its daily run when it hit a 40-year-old man. After the fatal truck accident, which occurred at the Twin Oaks-Meadowlands Trailer Park off Brushy Fork Road, the man was taken first to one hospital, and then to a second hospital, where he died that evening.

Police said a person was pulled from the SUV and someone was airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis, but they declined further comment. The tanker truck driver later tested positive for cocaine.
