When heavy commercial trucks share the roadways with smaller commuter cars, there need to be guidelines. Drive Safe PA has great information available for both truck drivers and commuters on how to drive on the highways making way for each other.

Topics such as driver blind spots, road conditions, and other useful resources are available to the public for free, with the hope that education will save lives.

Pennsylvania is also home to the TACT Program. The TACT, Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks is a program that is run by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and designed to reduce crashes with commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles.

Pennsylvania State Police introduced the program in the Harrisburg area in the fall of 2008 and conducted a second enforcement campaign in southwestern Pennsylvania in the summer of 2009. Along with enforcement, the campaign includes highway billboards, posters, safety awareness messages and brochures to educate drivers about the importance of sharing the road and steering clear of unsafe situations.
