After a hard-fought legal battle, truck crash attorney Michael Leizerman secured a $18.5M verdict for the family of a 21-year-old man who was killed in a broadside collision with a commercial motor vehicle in the spring of 2018.
Truck crash attorney Michael Leizerman of The Law Firm for Truck Safety has secured an $18.5M verdict for the family of a 21-year-old man who tragically lost his life in a broadside collision with a commercial motor vehicle in the spring of 2018.
The fatal crash occurred on April 27, 2018, when a Crossfire, LLC driver operating a Ford F-250 made a left turn onto westbound Summerfield Road from the northbound exit ramp of US-23. The driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic, and the 21-year-old victim traveling eastbound in a Honda Civic on Summerfield Road was unable to avoid the collision. The crash resulted in the death of the young man, while the driver and passenger of Crossfire’s truck survived.
Mr. Leizerman fought tirelessly on behalf of the victim’s family, successfully arguing that the crash was caused by Crossfire LLC’s driver's failure to operate his vehicle safely, follow traffic laws, identify other vehicles on the road, and yield to oncoming traffic.
Prior to trial, the insurance company offered a mere $450,000 to settle the case. Mr. Leizerman refused to back down and pushed the case to verdict. At trial, it took the jury approximately an hour of deliberations to reach their $18.5M verdict, holding the defense and insurance company responsible for taking the 21-year-old truck crash victim’s life.
