The Law Firm for Truck Safety attorney, Matthew Wright, was among many recognized leaders who gave talks on trucking and truck crash litigation at New Jersey Association For Justice’s (NJAJ) 2022 Boardwalk Seminar. Mr. Wright spoke on one of the aspects of truck crash case litigation and necessary for pursuing justice to its fullest extent: identifying proper parties and hidden parties.
Cargo shippers often hire brokers to identify, select and hire safe trucking companies, but these brokers do not always check the safety history of the carriers they choose to hire. As a result, the brokers or other motor carriers may hire unsafe trucking companies. A short internet search would have revealed these companies to be unsafe. The smaller trucking companies are often only insured for the insurance minimum ($750,000), which leaves victims of trucking crashes without adequate recourse.
If the hidden motor carriers that are ultimately responsible for causing crashes are not uncovered during the discoveryThe pre-trial process by which parties obtain evidence from each other., when a crash results in a fatality or serious injury, the truck crash victim who pays the price.
The job of a truck crash attorney is to find the hidden motor carriers and hold them accountable for the harm caused.

Matthew Wright hopes for a future where his role as a truck accident attorney, representing people injured by dangerous trucking companies, is no longer needed. As a truck injury lawyer, he hopes he and other trial attorneys will, together, force unsafe trucking companies with unsafe practices out of business, leaving only safe and compliant trucking companies on our roadways. Through litigation, and advocating for changes in the trucking industry on things like controls on fatigued driving, underride guards, and mandatory use of collision mitigation systems, he hopes to effect change and make his vision a reality.
