The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will soon complete its $18 million dollar traffic monitoring system in the Cleveland area. This system includes 300 cameras, 60 real-time message boards and 1000 road sensors that monitor vehicle speeds and weather. This information is sent to Columbus, which in turn sends out messages regarding traffic and weather. This system is expected to expand to Cincinnati, Columbus, Springfield, Dayton and Toledo by 2014, according to ODOT. ODOT recently won Project of the Year from a national organization for this project. http://bit.ly/wqPjKE
