Illinois has just simplified and clarified its trucking laws governing truck weight, truck length, and speed. The new legislation took almost a year of cooperation between trucking advocates, the Illinois Department of Transportation, and the Illinois State Police to come to pass.
Senate Bill 1644, signed last week by Governor Pat Quinn, standardizes all gross weight regulations for trucks. House Bill 2836 resolves confusion over truck length limits, and Senate Bill 1913 provides for a standard 65mph speed limit on all four-lane highways outside Chicagoland.
