Michigan is the only State in America that has a Truck Safety Commission that is dedicated to commercial driver safety education and training. The Michigan Truck Safety Commission has two primary groups that it sponsors. One is the Traffic Safety Division of the Michigan State Police, who provide the enforcement of truck safety laws. The other primary focus of the Michigan Truck Safety Commission is The Michigan Center for Truck Safety.

The Michigan Center for Truck Safety is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to keeping Michigan highways safe by offering training programs and workshops free of charge to anybody in the trucking industry, interested in the trucking industry, or drives on roadways where commercial trucks also drive – in other words, these workshops are open to anybody.
The workshops are offered to commercial truck drivers who want to learn more about the industry, to those interested in obtaining their Commercial Drivers License, as well as to management personnel in the industry. Students learn safety measures, laws and regulations, enhancement techniques and a host of other topics through instruction by skilled safety experts.
The Michigan Center for Truck Safety also offers workshops for motorists on how to safely share the roadway with large commercial trucks.
There has been some talk recently about mandatory drivers' education to ensure that young and inexperienced drivers better understand the issues that can arise on the roadways between cars and large trucks.
Michigan Truck Safety Commission says their vision is a safer highway environment and improving truck safety for both those in the trucking industry, as well as Michigan citizens. Their mission is to educate the public and address significant truck safety issues.
