The Law Firm for Truck Safety is pleased to announce that the Truck Safety Coalition has awarded Partner Rena Leizerman with its Truck Safety Champion Award, the organization’s most prestigious annual honor. The award recognizes an individual or organization for extraordinary, sustained contributions to reducing truck crash deaths and injuries – an honor that has most often gone to members of Congress who championed truck safety legislation.
This award reflects Rena’s years of leadership on the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act (F4A) broker liability preemption issue, work that culminated this year in the firm’s victory before the U.S. Supreme Court in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II, a unanimous ruling holding that freight brokers can be held liable under state negligent-hiring laws.
“It is a great honor to receive this award, especially given the incredible work of past honorees who have shaped truck safety policy at the national level,” shared Rena. “This recognition reflects the work of everyone who has fought alongside us on the broker liability issue for years. The Montgomery decision is going to save lives, and that’s what this work has always been about.”
Rena received the Truck Safety Champion Award during the Truck Safety Coalition’s Annual Gala in Washington, D.C. on October 2nd.
The firm extends its warmest congratulations to Rena for this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to continuing the fight for safer roads alongside the Truck Safety Coalition and the broader truck safety community.
