Great work by reporter Craig Thomas and the folks at WTOL11 for the investigative report they published Nov. 15 shedding light on at-fault accidents involving commercial vehicles in Ohio.
The story – and accompanying video – paints a well-rounded picture of the issues concerning trucking safety and carrier responsibility. The report focuses not only on companies that have been tagged with out-of-service ratings by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, but it also gives a nod to commercial carriers that follow safety regulations and maintain a clean operation. This follows in lock-step with our intentions at TruckAccidents.com – to recognize responsible trucking while holding accountable the companies and drivers who violate safety regulations.

Alarming to residents in our own backyard in northern Ohio are some of the numbers reported. According to the WTOL11 report, more than 600 at-fault truck crashes have occurred in Fulton, Hancock, Lucas and Wood counties so far in 2012. We also like that the online report lets residents search a long list of local trucking companies and identify those that have been issued out-of-service violations.
