A tractor trailer struck an Iowa State Patrol car on Wednesday, Feb. 29, injuring a trooper who had pulled to the side of the road to assist an earlier accident. According to the Des Moines Register, the state trooper had pulled to the side of southbound Interstate Highway 35 when a tractor trailer entering the freeway from the U.S. Highway 20 ramp collided with his vehicle. The state trooper and a passenger who was involved in the earlier accident were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi tractor trailer was not injured in the accident. Authorities are still investigating what caused the crash.
