On July 16, 2017, Brooke Pratt and her then-boyfriend, Seth, were on their way back to Pennsylvania from Ohio after attending a wedding. Little did they know that this journey would take a devastating turn. Stuck in traffic, behind them, Brooke and Seth heard the screeching of brakes and a series of loud booms before a semi-truck traveling over 70 mph collided with their car.
The impact left Brooke with severe injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, the impact of which still affects her to this day. Her experience inspired her to share her story and raise awareness about the importance of semi-truck safety. In June 2022, she joined other advocates and victims of truck crashes in Washington, DC to discuss the issues related to trucking safety and to emphasize the need to protect families affected by truck crashes.
