An SUV and a tanker truck collided just east of Eagle, Colorado, on Thursday, March 8, spilling 7,000 gallons of diesel fuel across Interstate 70. According the Vail Daily, the SUV was attempting to pass the tanker when the accident occurred. The tanker truck rolled onto its side and was punctured, releasing diesel fuel and prompting a response from the Colorado State Patrol’s hazardous materials unit. I-70 was closed for about five hours following the crash. The driver of the SUV was cited for numerous infractions.
