MiddletownJournal.com reports that five people were taken to a hospital after a dump truck caused a three-vehicle chain-reaction crash on Thursday, September 23. The truck wreck, which happened at Verity Parkway and Access Road 3 in Middletown, Ohio, started when a pickup slowed to turn right, and the minivan behind it also braked. The dump truck, however, did not slacken its speed — estimated at 60-65 mph in a 50 mph zone. It slammed into the minivan, crossed the median, crashed through a guardrail, and then landed in a ravine on its side. The driver suffered head and back injuries and was hospitalized, as were two passengers from the pickup and two from the minivan.
News.Cincinnati.com reports that a dump truck backed over a construction worker and killed him Friday night, September 24, in Fairfield Township, Ohio. The worker was standing in the construction zone (on Ohio 4, near Hamilton-Mason Road), when the dump truck rolled over him.
MyNews4.com reports that a motorcyclist slammed into a dump truck and died after the truck blew through a stop sign on Monday, September 20. The fatal truck accident happened on Highway 95A near Penrose Lane, north of Yerington, Nevada.
SunCoastPasCo.tbo.com reports that a dump truck driver caused a four-vehicle pileup when he rear-ended and then landed on top of a pickup stopped for traffic. The impact pushed the pickup into a Mustang and the Mustang into a Saturn, and the people in those cars sustained injuries, but the pickup driver died. This truck wreck happened Tuesday, September 21, on Ridge Road eastbound near Galen Wilson Boulevard (at the Chasco schools complex) in New Port Richey, Florida.
SiskiyouDaily.com reports that a Yreka Transit Mix dump truck lost control and crashed into Yreka Machine Works on Friday, September 24, in Yreka, California. A firefighter who happened to witness the truck accident said he saw the vehicle “shoot across” Oberlin Road from Fairlane Road, become airborne, and then land again before hitting the building. One worker in the building was hospitalized with minor injuries; the truck driver sustained major injuries. Another person in the shop was hospitalized for what the firefighter termed a “medical emergency not related to trauma from the accident.”
StamfordAdvocate.com reports that a garbage truck hit a bicyclist early on Saturday, September 25, in Stamford, Connecticut. The cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, fell off his bike and suffered a life-threatening head injury. According to the police: “The garbage truck was going to turn left into the driveway of Stamford Hospital to make a pickup, and the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on West Broad Street, and they collided in the driveway junction.” The cyclist was in critical condition after emergency surgery.
